Coming out of the starting block with the Ace, the Two doesn’t know when to stop. Pleased with all opportunities and possibilities he tries out as many as he can manage before making a choice.

The number two deals with duality which is easy so see in this card…shall I do this or shall I do that. The card may indicate that we need to clarify what would work best, especially when we feel overloaded at present.

The figure eight around the two coins indicates that there is enough energy to manage the increased work load. When he stays in the energy flow he can keep it going for a long time.

Although it is a busy card, we can see the choppy sea in the background, the sky is clear and blue and the person is light on his feet. There is a lot of orange/red in his clothing meaning that he has a lot of energy to his disposition. He is focused on his pentacle, his goal.

Pentacles deal with money, business and education. The element earth is practical, organized and matter of fact. Two is about duality and choice.

This article is an introduction how to use the Tarot for maximum benefit in 3 easy steps. The Tarot is long underestimated for its effectiveness for daily guidance and problem solving. Many people do not understand the benefits the Tarot has to offer and how to use it effectively. We are very lucky to have such a powerful yet gentile self help tool at our fingertips. The Tarot has nothing to do with magic; it is about common sense and a willingness to learn the meaning of the cards to be able to gain great support from this insightful, magnificent, divination tool.

1. To introduce you to the Tarot you have to get yourself a deck

Choose a deck that suits you – The deck I use is the Rider Waite Deck for it is easy to read and many good books are written with this deck in mind.

Choose a book that explains the cards – You can also buy a book and deck together. There are some great deck and book combinations you can buy online.

You can absolutely learn the skill by yourself or you can join a class where you learn and practice together with other students.

2. Now you have a deck and book this is what you do

Take the cards out of the box and lay them out one by one. On a table would be the easiest, if you don’t have a big table to your disposition, place a white or light coloured table cloth on the floor in a quiet corner where no one will stop on your cards.

The cards in themselves have no unusual powers, they are cards, but the energy you put into your deck is special. The cards deserve to be used respectfully. Let no one else use your cards but you. The only time someone can touch your cards is when they come to you for a reading to seek advice from the Tarot.

Pick up the cards one by one and get a feeling for the card, for now that is plenty. You just started a new journey have fun with it and do not try to learn too much at once.

To give the cards your vibration you can also put them under your pillow when you sleep. It is a good thing to keep the cards with you as much as possible. Make sure they are well kept in a lovely (silk) cloth. I have made pouches for my cards with a string cord so they can not fall out or get damaged.

3. Make it fun and keep a dairy of your readings

Every time you ask a question do it with awareness. This is the key to success in using the Tarot cards and key in problem solving and decision making. The moment your question is clear in your head and you can speak it out loud, you can be sure that the answer will be revealed to you. This is the power of the Tarot.

In the beginning make it your habit to pick one card a day and contemplate for a few moments what the card says to you. To make it easy look the card up in the book and write the core meaning down in your diary.

At night time pick up your card again and review your day with the card in mind. This is an easy, effective and precise way to learn the Tarot in depth. Write down your impressions in your diary.

Do this every day and if you take one different card a day you will have a firm grasp of the Tarot in 78 days.

To your Tarot succes,

Soul Mates is a fascinating read, some of the topics covered in the book are

How to begin your personal quest for perfect love

How to spot the one telltale sing that sets soul mates apart

Hot to open yourself to the unique magic of this remarkable union of body and soul

How to seize the moment – and make it last a life time

Reading the book I got flashes of insight about my past and present relationships.

Edgar Cayce himself was in a soul mate relationship with his wife Gertrude, she passed away 3 months after her husband died, which is one sign of a soul mate relationship. Their souls were so intertwined and focused on each other that they don’t want to live without each other.

Being in a soul mate relationship does not mean that the relationship will be easy. Soul mate relationships have the same challenges as all relationships do. The difference is that there is a deep commitment and a dedication to each other, a shared purpose and direction with an inner knowing that they are meant to be together.

Soul mates have often an instant recognition and familiarity with each other when they meet for the first time. This is due to subconscious knowledge or old memories that are being triggered. Aha moments are literally recognitions of memories from the past.

Of course all memories are not always easy. Sometimes we get triggered negatively and old karma needs to be dealt with and worked out.

The book offers insights why we feel compelled to marry or be in relationship with someone. We follow people on their journey through several relationships, we read about their memories from the past which created the desire to rekindle the connection again this time around.

I found the book “Soul Mates” by Jess Stearn, a pleasure to read, the information is interesting, and the stories are entertaining with food for thought about how and why we choose our partners.

What is more satisfying then finding true love with your soul mate? Aren’t we always on the quest for Love? How do we know if the person we are with is the right person for us? In my practice these questions come up very often. It is fascinating and a privilege to join people on their journey of soul mate discovery.

You may choose any of the various decks that appeal to you, I recommend the use of the “Rider Waite Tarot Deck”. named after the world-famous occult scholar and author, Dr. Arthur Edward Waite, who produced the deck in 1910. The designs were drawn and colored under his supervision by Pamela Coleman Smith, an American girl who was a fellow member of the occult society, the Order of the Golden Dawn.

I have found the Waite Deck to be the most suitable for beginners. Its beauty and simplicity stimulate students and allow them to learn at a faster pace.

After purchasing your deck, handle the cards as often as you can, when they are new the cards feel very different from a deck that has been infused with your own vibrations over a long period of time.
Once you “season” your deck you must not allow another person to handle it, as this will disturb your vibratory bond to the deck mixing different vibrations with yours. If possible carry your cards with you and wrap and protect them in a silken cloth or in a pouch made for your deck.

You can sleep with the cards under your pillow which helps to impregnate the cards with your vibration. When you watch TV take your cards and shuffle them. You don’t need to focus on them, your Higher Self will be subconsciously preparing the cards for your work with the Tarot.

Don’t be concerned if you notice the cards falling in reverse positions – let them fall naturally into any position. This is necessary in order to season the deck correctly. Handling the cards must continue until you become aware that your vibrations have thoroughly permeated the deck. How long this will take depends on how serious you are about learning the Tarot. The more you manipulate the deck, the sooner you will begin to receive you first esoteric impressions, which will be a signal that you are ready to proceed.

Tarot Magic in your day,

One of the creative uses for the Tarot is problem solving. We need to focus on our question clearly. This alone is therapeutic. Very often we think about things in a disorganized way. Formulating the question helps organizing thought and facilitates an answer to come to the surface.

This is how I read for myself.

By the way, in my experience we can read for ourselves. It asks for objectivity, being an observer to what’s going on in our busy mind. When we step away from the question and look at the cards in an inquisitve open manner, the whole process becomes a creative search for the truth in the moment.

When you can read for yourself you can read for another.

Before I ask the question I make sure that I have about 15 minutes to myself without interruption. Asking the Tarot a question is a bit like a meditation. We centre within, we let go of all other concerns and we focus solely on the question.

It’s helpful to have a basic knowledge of the cards and also to have a good Tarot book as back-up.

Take time to shuffle the cards thoroughly to ‘shake out’ the energy of the previous readings. This too helps to focus your attention.

Then I spread out the deck so all cards are partly visible.

I find it helpful to close my eyes and pick the cards with my non-writing hand, this way I can’t ‘think’ about the cards I am ‘supposed’ to pick.

With focused attention I pick the beforehand decided number of cards; I know the spread I am using and where to position the picked cards. This too helps organize thoughts.

I open the cards, and interpret the cards one by one

Then I log the outcome, to be able to read and reflect on the meaning.

Sometimes after a day or so a new interpretation comes to the surface. This is another benefit of working with the Tarot. New meanings discovered by ourselves can create a shift in awareness and offer a new solution.

The Tarot triggers our inner guidance, like The Hermit in the Tarot. The Tarot comes to us when we are ready as guidance comes to us when we are ready to listen. This is the Magick of the Tarot.

Everything takes on a different glow after meditation. How simple is it to sit down and connect with our inner self observing how resistant I am to do it every day although the benefits are so great.

Before the meditation I picked the card of ’Kali, beginnings and endings’. I know what it is referring to. I am a bit resistant to let go of old, the comfort zone is still strong but I can feel the stirrings of new beginnnings. This card has strenghtened my resolve to let go.

The combination of meditation with Angel cards and Tarot is very effective. The cards offer focus and a message from the unconscious, the meditation offers expansion; guided, focused expansion.

Some questions we could ask The Tarot in relation to a significant other are:

What is the essence of our past life connection?

What is the quality that attracted me to this person… again?

What am I learning from this person?

What is this person learning from me?

Why are we together?

What do I need to let go of to be happy with this person?

There is a lot of free will in personal relationships. To ask if you are meant to be together for a life time does not make much sense. In our culture we have the choice to stay or to leave. Both have consequences.

Receiving information of your past and present life journey together may help open your mind and heart to a much bigger reality, understanding the journey you have been on together now and in to the past.

A reading gives the opportunity to let go of the little stuff that can block our vision the bigger picture and link you to the beauty of your journey together.

A Past Life Reading includes an mp3 recording of your reading which will be emailed to you.

In Monday evening’s Tarot class the Emperor came up for some people.

The Emperor’s meaning is amongst others; Structure, rules of society, father figure, being stern and being organized.

The image shows a rigid figure on a throne-like chair. His feet are in armor. His body may be too but it’s hidden under his clothing.

The Emperor can also indicate – on an emotional level – we feel we have to armor ourselves to protect ourselves from what we perceive as negativity from the outside world. We can become quiet and withdrawn, not wanting to expose our deeper thoughts and emotions.

The Emperor is the 4th card in the first row reflecting society and conformity not having found our individuality yet.

The only way we know how to stay true to our self, ideas, and vision is by withdrawing in our armor. With time, when our ideas have been tested, we can relax a bit an we can become like the Star (card XVII) being at ease with who we are without needing to protect ourselves for mental, emotional or spiritual survival.

Interpreting the Tarot cards is subtle. We have the meaning we can read in books. This is an excellent start and the only way to begin learning the Tarot. Other valid interpretations will emerge with time after we have grasped the core meaning of the cards.
