How To Learn The Tarot In 3 Easy Steps And Enjoy The Process

by Josiane Schuthof on December 17, 2009

This article is an introduction how to use the Tarot for maximum benefit in 3 easy steps. The Tarot is long underestimated for its effectiveness for daily guidance and problem solving. Many people do not understand the benefits the Tarot has to offer and how to use it effectively. We are very lucky to have such a powerful yet gentile self help tool at our fingertips. The Tarot has nothing to do with magic; it is about common sense and a willingness to learn the meaning of the cards to be able to gain great support from this insightful, magnificent, divination tool.

1.   To introduce you to the Tarot you have to get yourself a deck

Choose a deck that suits you – The deck I use is the Rider Waite Deck for it is easy to read and many good books are written with this deck in mind.

Choose a book that explains the cards – You can also buy a book and deck together. There are some great deck and book combinations you can buy online.

You can absolutely learn the skill by yourself or you can join a class where you learn and practice together with other students.

 2.   Now you have a deck and book this is what you do

Take the cards out of the box and lay them out one by one. On a table would be the easiest, if you don’t have a big table to your disposition, place a white or light coloured table cloth on the floor in a quiet corner where no one will stop on your cards.

The cards in themselves have no unusual powers, they are cards, but the energy you put into your deck is special. The cards deserve to be used respectfully. Let no one else use your cards but you. The only time someone can touch your cards is when they come to you for a reading to seek advice from the Tarot.

Pick up the cards one by one and get a feeling for the card, for now that is plenty. You just started a new journey have fun with it and do not try to learn too much at once.

To give the cards your vibration you can also put them under your pillow when      you sleep. It is a good thing to keep the cards with you as much as possible. Make sure they are well kept in a lovely (silk) cloth. I have made pouches for my cards with a string cord so they can not fall out or get damaged.

 3.   Make it fun and keep a dairy of your readings

Every time you ask a question do it with awareness. This is the key to success in using the Tarot cards and key in problem solving and decision making.  The moment your question is clear in your head and you can speak it out loud, you can be sure that the answer will be revealed to you. This is the power of the Tarot.

In the beginning make it your habit to pick one card a day and contemplate for a few moments what the card says to you. To make it easy look the card up in the book and write the core meaning down in your diary.

At night time pick up your card again and review your day with the card in mind. This is an easy, effective and precise way to learn the Tarot in depth. Write down your impressions in your diary.

Do this every day and if you take one different card a day you will have a firm grasp of the Tarot in 78 days.

To your Tarot succes,

How Do You Know If You Are With Your Soul Mate?

by Josiane Schuthof on December 8, 2009

Soul Mates is a fascinating read, some of the topics covered in the book are

  • How to begin your personal quest for perfect love
  • How to spot the one telltale sing that sets soul mates apart
  • Hot to open yourself to the unique magic of this remarkable union of body and soul
  • How to seize the moment – and make it last a life time

Reading the book I got flashes of insight about my past and present relationships.

Edgar Cayce himself was in a soul mate relationship with his wife Gertrude, she passed away 3 months after her husband died, which is one sign of a soul mate relationship. Their souls were so intertwined and focused on each other that they don’t want to live without each other.

Being in a soul mate relationship does not mean that the relationship will be easy. Soul mate relationships have the same challenges as all relationships do. The difference is that there is a deep commitment and a dedication to each other, a shared purpose and direction with an inner knowing that they are meant to be together.

Soul mates have often an instant recognition and familiarity with each other when they meet for the first time. This is due to subconscious knowledge or old memories  that are being triggered.  Aha moments are literally recognitions of memories from the past.

Of course all memories are not always easy. Sometimes we get triggered negatively and old karma needs to be dealt with and worked out.

The book offers insights why we feel compelled to marry or be in relationship with someone. We follow people on their journey through several relationships, we read about their memories from the past which created the desire to rekindle the connection again this time around.

I found the book “Soul Mates” by Jess Stearn, a pleasure to read, the information is interesting, and the stories are entertaining with food for thought about how and why we choose our partners.

What is more satisfying then finding true love with your soul mate? Aren’t we always on the quest for Love?  How do we know if the person we are with is the right person for us? In my practice these questions come up very often. It is fascinating and a privilege to join people on their journey of soul mate discovery.

josiane@souldirections.com.au
One of the creative uses for the Tarot is problem solving.  We need to focus on our question clearly. This alone is therapeutic. Very often we think about things in a disorganized way. Formulating the question helps organizing thought and facilitates an answer to come to the surface.
This is how I read for myself.
By the [...]

The Emperor

by Josiane SchuthofNovember 11, 2009 Uncategorized

In Monday evening’s Tarot class the Emperor came up for some people.
The Emperor’s meaning is amongst others; Structure, rules of society, father figure, being stern and being organized.
The image shows a rigid figure on a throne-like chair. His feet are in armor. His body may be too but it’s hidden under his clothing.
The Emperor can [...]
